Laser Gum Recontouring

If gum tissue seems to be your issue and a “gummy smile” keeps you from a confident smile, we provide Gum Recontouring.

An excess of gum tissue may be due to genetics, prescription drugs, poor hygiene, periodontal disease, tooth decay and orthodontics. These conditions can lead to an uneven gum line that may be too high or low and make teeth appear short, stubby and unattractive.

Dr. Dillon can transform this unwanted gum tissue by using a quick painless procedure called gum recontouring/crown lengthening. A Versawave laser is used in a medically conservative way to modify the shape of the gum line. In many cases, gum lifts are performed on selected teeth before placing veneers and crowns to improve the symmetry of its new beautiful smile.

Using a laser to sculpt the gum tissue has several advantages:

  • Little to no bleeding
  • No/little anesthesia (in some cases)
  • Minimal to no discomfort
  • Minimizes the chance of infection
  • Short healing period
  • No stitches
  • Safe
  • Quick Procedure

*In rare cases a major gum lift may require some healing time and over-the-counter pain medication.
