Claire Harkins, D.M.D.

Claire Harkins, D.M.D., was born and raised in Jackson, MS. She comes from a long line of dentists, her father and grandfather were dentists. She attended Jackson Academy throughout her childhood and then Mississippi State University where she graduated Summa Cum Laude with a B.S. in Biological Sciences. Dr. Harkins earned her dental degree at the University of Mississippi Medical Center.
During her time at the School of Dentistry, she volunteered at the Jackson Free Clinic providing free dental care to the under-served population. In 2016, Dr. Harkins received the Bradford A. Gordon memorial award, which is given by fellow dental students, recognizing perseverance and a positive attitude towards life.
After graduation from dental school, Dr. Harkins was accepted into a General Practice Residency in Denver, Colorado at Denver Health Medical Center. She gained experience in all areas of dentistry with an emphasis on trauma and emergency care along with full mouth rehabilitation cases under general anesthesia.
Upon completion of her residency, Dr. Harkins and her family remained in Denver for another year where she worked at a pediatric dental clinic as an associate dentist. At this position, she gained immense knowledge in treating pediatric patients. In 2018, Dr. Harkins returned to Mississippi to be closer to family and friends.

In her spare time, Dr. Harkins enjoys spending time with her husband, Michael, and their dogs, Rooney and Butters. She loves being near her mom and other family members in MS again. They are expecting their first child in October 2019. Dr. Harkins is excited to be back in her home state and to serve the community of Madison and the surrounding areas.
